What is Club Maccabee™?
Club Maccabee is a children's Club combining fun and games with Hebrew Lessons and Religious Education. Too often Jewish Religious training has had as much appeal as a trip to the dentist. As Messianic Jews we believe it should be different. Club Maccabee is a place that Jewish kids will want to attend. The children will have positive thoughts about both God and their Jewish identity. Like the Maccabees of Jewish history, we want children to choose to stand up for God!
It is our firm belief that children learn best through both a fun and structured environment. Children will have a good experience and learn about God at the same time. Regardless of your affiliation Club Maccabee will enhance your child's knowledge of God and their Jewish identity.
Program Format
Club Maccabee is designed to be a 25-week program conducted during the regular school year for 1st through 6th graders. The Club format lasts one and a half hours and is broken down into three basic components:
- Chavurah (Fellowship): This time is for singing, Hebrew language instruction and the learning of a basic Jewish Educational curriculum. We want these children to have a strong Jewish identity!
- Mischak (Games): Time for fun games and activities is included to help those who need to burn off some energy. We want these children to have lots of fun!
- Midrash (Study): Scripture Study based on each year's curriculum is the core of this time. Memorization of two verses, one from the Hebrew Scriptures and one from the New Covenant, is included as well. We want these children to have a solid knowledge of the Scriptures!
Curriculum
Each Club Maccabee Midrash lesson is part of a full six-year curriculum. For every lesson the children will receive a laminated card to help them remember both their Hebrew words for the week as well as their memory verses. The full Six Year program has been designed as a comprehensive and chronological survey of the Hebrew and New Covenant Scriptures, covering all sections from Genesis to Revelation:
- Year 1: Beginnings (Genesis)
- Year 2: Redemption (Exodus - Deuteronomy)
- Year 3: Conquering the Land (Joshua - I Samuel)
- Year 4: The Kings of Israel (Samuel, Kings & Chronicles)
- Year 5: Exile and Restoration (The Prophets & Writings)
- Year 6: The Messiah has Come (New Covenant)
